Observability is a property of your system that helps you understand what's going on with it.

Monitoring

·     Looking at what happened a long time ago

·     Looking at the past

·     Monitoring is passive watching.

·     Monitoring is slightly delayed.

 

Observability

Observability is active.

Observability is asking questions right now.

 

·     How the system is acting

·     What is the state of the system, and reacting fast
